As part of the Let's Go Compost Library Program, Johnsonville Public Library expanded its worm composting demonstration into an interactive community event that combined environmental education, literacy, art, and family engagement.

Visitors of all ages explored a working worm compost bin, browsed composting books for children and adults, including The Wild West of Waste, and created air-dry clay worms to paint while learning about food waste, decomposition, healthy soil, and composting. Rather than hosting a traditional lecture, the library created an experience that encouraged families to learn together, ask questions, and spend more time interacting with educational resources.
